This is a cool attribute of God. I think if someone were to ask me what my favorite superhero power would be, I think it would have to be this one. Being everywhere at every moment. It takes Superman a while to fly around the world and Spider Man can only shoot those webs so fast. But being omnipresent, you could be anywhere at anytime to help anyone in needs. I’d need to come up with a better name than “Omnipresent Man.” Obviously this is impossible because it takes one who is infinite to be omnipresent, but it would still be cool. Anytime I think of wanting to be like God though, I’m just thankful that he is the only one that truly has an immeasurable amount of all the sweet attributes. As many times in my life that I like to be my own God, I’m really glad that God is God and I’m not.
I love the truth that Tozer points out that God’s omnipresence personalizes the world that we live in. God is everywhere and everything in this universe screams that he is there and with us in everything. Looking back on when I was a little kid and in a thunderstorm, life was definitely a lot better when I was in my parent’s room and knew that they’d protect me. It got even better when I learned that God is there in the midst of every weather related thunderstorm and the thunderstorms of life. To know that God is there and involved in every sunny day of weather and life and every storm gives us a lot of hope. Hope in knowing that he is there in every situation and has his hand in it, whether a tsunami hits Thailand, you fail a test, or get hired for your dream job. He is in every situation and is a part of everything that happens in life. This helps me a lot to believe that he wants to be there for me and want to empower me to do great things for him. It also helps me to know that when things are not going so well that I can turn to him, because he’s right there, ready to help me, give me grace, keep me safe, and make everything happen for his glory. God’s everywhere at every time, which gives me a lot of peace that whatever is happening is happening for a reason, to glorify himself and to make us more like Jesus (Romans 8:28-29).
