Main Scripture Passage: Exodus 34:6-7
Blog Questions
A. How do we seek to know this God according to Tozer and what are you doing to seek after this God?
B. Tozer says, “Between His attributes no contradiction can exist. He need not suspend one to exercise another, for in Him all His attributes are one. All of God does all that God does; he does not divide Himself to perform a work, but works in the total unity of His being. What of your thoughts on God change when you view Him as the fullness of every attribute?

I love the fact that all of God’s attributes work at the same time in infinite measure. Never less, never more, always infinite. This really helps me to believe that God truly loves me. I struggle with this often, but I’m so thankful to realize that God always loves and cares about me more than I even do myself, because my love is changeable.
Knowing at the same time that God is infinitely just helps remind me that though he loves me and all people, we have sinned against him and he is going to punish people if we don’t tell them about him. He can’t just put aside his justice. His justice will always be there and it’s because his justice and love will always be there, that he sent Jesus, in love, to die, to satisfy his justice. What a great God we have that can be infinitely just and loving, amongst all other attributes!
One of the first things that I noticed about this chapter is that I really don't know how to describe God. As Tozer says, we can't really use any words we know because we use those to describe the thing that God has created. It reminds me of the speaker we had at one of the retreats (it might have been the men's retreat last spring, sorry ladies) when he told the story about when he went golfing. He told a story about how he was golfing with a friend and sunk an incredible putt and said to his golfing partner, "Tell me I'm awesome." His partner refused and said that he reserved the word "awesome" for describing God and God alone. I didn't really think it was that big of a deal until I read this chapter and actually thought about it.
So would it work to simply stop using the word "awesome", or some other similar word, to describe all that is not God or am I just out of luck? Sorry to get off the topic of your questions Mike.
Matt - So I went on dictionary.com and looked up "awesome" and did a thesaurus on it, so hopefully some of these words will help you out.
